Bryant Elementary’s kinderkids visit the City Council

Teachers Alex Jones and Kevin Gallagher brought their classes of kinderkids from Bryant Elementary down to City Hall last Thursday. The kids studied U.S. government over the course of the year and wrapped things up by exploring Seattle government. They showed off the research they’d done on the Mayor and all nine City Councilmembers, even learning about our committee assignments and pet interests.

The Legislative Department’s Brian Hawksford and Nancy Roberts played tour guide on the Council floor. We squeezed the entire group into my office so we could chat and I could show them some of the things I’m currently working on.

Before we adjourned to Council Chambers for a chance to sit at the dais (and play with the microphones), the kids performed a song for me. Remember the Perry Como hit that was the theme to “Here Come the Brides?” The spirited version from Bryant Elementary’s kindergarten classes can be found here.
