Tonight: Council’s COBE & Seattle Schools host joint meeting

The City Council’s Committee on the Built Environment will be joined tonight by the Seattle School Board Operations Committee for a special meeting in the community to discuss and highlight education issues. It’s being billed as “Healthy Neighborhoods, Healthy Schools – A Planning Primer: Demystifying Growth for Quality Neighborhoods Schools.”

The agenda is available here.

With Seattle Schools transitioning to a neighborhood-based approach, this is the right time for discussion. The Comprehensive Plan update will be occurring in the next two years, and these elements need to be woven together to really focus on long-term growth and optimization of our neighborhoods. We’ll discuss the district’s plan for changes in student population, methods for better and greater collaboration between the district and the city, and most importantly, we’ll take feedback from the public.

The meeting starts at 6pm in the auditorium at Eckstein Middle School, located at 3003 N.E. 75th Street.
