Saturday’s going to be a great day to connect with constituents at two public events. Sally Clark and I will kick off the day at First Hill’s Corner Cafe from 9am to 11am for coffee and conversation. Grab a cup of coffee or a pastry and come talk with us about the city issues that are important to you. If you plan to attend, send us a quick RSVP so we know how many folks we should expect.
On the heels of the coffee event comes the City Hall Open House. The doors will open at 11am on Saturday morning, and the public is invited to drop in, take a tour of the offices, and meet their elected officials and staff. From 11:00 – 11:55am, Council offices will be open for attendees to tour. We’ll pause from 12:00-12:30 for a presentation in the lobbyfrom Mayor McGinn and Councilmembers Clark, Burgess, and Licata. Open offices will resume from 12:30pm until the event concludes at 2pm.
City Grind, our venerable coffee cart, will be open in the lobby. Molly Moon’s ice cream truck, a fire truck from SFD, and the mobile food experience known as Skillet will be parked on the 5th Avenue side of City Hall. The Seattle Animal Shelter will also be on-hand in the lobby in case you’re interested in taking a new friend home.
Live entertainment at the open house includes:
1st floor lobby near base of steps
Buddy Catlett & Friends (Jazz and swing)
11 a.m.– noon
Mayor’s and Councilmembers’ Remarks
Noon -12:30 p.m.
12:45 – 2 p.m. with short break between sets
7th floor lobby across from reception
Correo Aereo (Traditional Latin music)
11 a.m. – noon
Srivani Jade (Classical music of India)
12:30 – 2 p.m.
I hope you’ll join us at one or both of Saturday’s events. The opportunity to meet our constituents in an informal setting is something I look forward to, and opening the doors to City Hall takes away a little of the mystery that is city government. Come visit our offices, introduce yourself and your family, and meet me and my staff.
